Giraffes are truly unique creatures, and there’s so much to learn about them! There are three main types of giraffes: the Reticulated, Maasai, and Rothschild giraffes. Each species has its own distinct pattern—Reticulated giraffes are easily recognized by their net-like, white-lined patterns, Maasai giraffes have star-shaped spots and are the tallest of the species, and the Rothschild giraffes sport a pattern that stops at the knee, setting them apart from the others.

In addition to their striking patterns, giraffes are known for their impressive hearts, which can weigh between 12 to 15 kilograms! These large hearts are essential for pumping blood up their long necks to keep their heads and bodies well supplied with oxygen.

Giraffes also have a fascinating walking style called “ambling,” which involves moving both legs on one side of their body at the same time, followed by the legs on the other side. This unique gait helps them cover long distances in the wild
